Tips for trips nearby
Everything you can see and visit around The Nové Javoříčko complex.
The village of Javoříčko is nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by forests, offering visitors a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. It is best known for the tragic events at the end of World War II, commemorated by a memorial dedicated to the victims of the village’s burning. Additionally, Javoříčko serves as a starting point for exploring the Javoříčko Caves, some of the most beautiful karst formations in the Czech Republic. The village attracts both history enthusiasts and tourists who appreciate the peaceful surroundings and the beauty of the natural landscape.
Indulge in an extraordinary experience at the Javoříčko Caves. Situated below Špraněk Hill near the villages of Javoříčko and Březina, the Javoříčko Caves are often regarded as some of the most beautiful caves in the country. Why? Primarily due to their unique stalactite formations, which feature a stunning array of colors and shapes. Take a look inside for yourself! The caves are open daily except Mondays in September and October, and from Monday to Friday in November.
The educational trail spans 1 km and follows solid paths around the Memorial to the Victims of World War II. In the spring of 1945, the residents of the village were already expecting the war to end. Instead, they faced senseless and deeply tragic gunfire, claiming the lives of 38 innocent men from Javoříčko, and their homes were burned down. The trail's nine stops attempt to explain what happened here and why. In some places, the foundations of houses are marked, and plaques display the names of their last owners, as well as the feelings of those who survived.
The memorial was built to mark the 10th anniversary of the burning of Javoříčko. This solemn site features a rectangular platform made of smooth stone blocks. Its centerpiece is the Victory sculpture, a group of six figures (a young man with a hammer, a woman with wheat and a sickle, an elderly woman, a boy, a man with a flag bearing a star, and a woman with a branch), standing at a height of 500 cm and carved from Hořice sandstone. The sculpture stands on a 212 cm high pedestal, adorned with inscribed plaques. Javoříčko is often referred to as the "Moravian Lidice."
